The aim of the network is to help independent businesses in the Northgate district of the city benefit from the huge number of visitors who come to enjoy shows and other events at Storyhouse, with many travelling from across Cheshire, Wirral, North Wales and elsewhere.
Participating venues will offer a single 10% discount on agreed food, drink, accommodation or other service to those with a Storyhouse ticket for that date.
The first partner, Plana Terra, located in the heart of Northgate Square, is already offering the 10% discount for food and drink for Storyhouse guests with a valid Storyhouse ticket.
Storyhouse ticketholders will also qualify for the same discount on stays at Celestial Apartments, with five one and two bedroom apartments located above Plana Terra with views over the city.
Lisa Cormack, Storyhouse Development Manager, said: “Northgate Network is still in its early stages of development, but we already have several exciting conversations going with a range of independent businesses and would love to hear from others who feel this kind of collaboration could work well for them.
“Storyhouse is a charity and last year there were over 880,000 visits to the venue. We are proud of the role we play in the local community and economy and want to do our bit to help independent businesses thrive.
“We all know how precarious the hospitality sector is and if people close to us suffer, we all suffer. We want Northgate to be a part of the city that people want to come to and spend their precious time and money.
“While we have our own Storyhouse bar and restaurant, we appreciate that people like variety and during the big shows, we can’t cater for everyone.
“Our aim is to bring on board other appropriate partner businesses over the summer and early autumn with the intention of promoting the network more actively from October in the run-up to our Christmas shows.”
